Welcome

This blog is my attempt to share information I have found
interesting or edifying in my daily Christian walk.
Hopefully, someone else will benefit from something on here.

A Berean is a person who searches the scriptures daily to see if
what is heard is true according to the scriptures.

Acts 17:11
"Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians,
for they received the message with great eagerness and examined
the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true." NIV

Ten “Christians” God Will Not Allow Into Heaven

#1 You can believe in God and not be saved.

James 2:19 "You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that — and shudder." (NIV)

#2 You can acknowledge Jesus as Lord and not be saved.

Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." (NIV)

#3 You can speak in the name of Jesus and not be saved.

Matthew 7:22-23 "Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'" (NIV)

#4 You can drive out demons in the name of Jesus and not be saved.

Matthew 7:22-23 "Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'" (NIV)

#5 You can work miracles in the name of Jesus and not be saved.

Matthew 7:22-23 "Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'" (NIV)

#6 You can have a zeal for God and not be saved.

Romans 10:2-3 "For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness." (NIV)

#7 You can evangelize the world for God and not be saved.

Matthew 23:15 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are." (NIV)

#8 You can seek to have eternal life and not be saved.

Matthew 19:16-22

16 Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?"

17 "Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments."

18 "Which ones?" the man inquired. Jesus replied, "'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony,

19 honor your father and mother,' and 'love your neighbor as yourself.'"

20 "All these I have kept," the young man said. "What do I still lack?"

21 Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

22 When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. (NIV)

#9 You can profess to know God and not be saved.

Titus 1:15-16 "To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good." (NIV)

#10 You can follow and serve Jesus Christ and not be saved.

John 6:70-71 "Then Jesus replied, "Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!" (He meant Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, who, though one of the Twelve, was later to betray him.)" (NIV)

There are many here in the US who think that because they recited back a prayer when they were six years old that they are Christians. They may have never stepped foot in Church again, opened the Bible or thought anymore about Christ. Yet because they said a prayer they are confident they are saved.

They will be crying "Lord, Lord" but will not enter in. My heart is breaking for those that are so deceived.

If only they will read the Scriptures and turn from their worldly ways.

Hi Berean wife would like to post this on my blog so am asking for permission to do so. for this topic is really a serious problem to me. These days people are just believeing in nonsense doctrines and beliefs and also bent on pursuing their evil desires.

It is really a terrible thing to think you are doing your best to serve Him and while you are not really doing so.

Godbless

Congratulations on being able to see truth, many have eyes but most are blind.

I am very frustrated by the church community and by the willingness to overlook simple facts in the holding to tradition taught to them as doctrines from God.

How can one who stands so far outside the stream of modern Christianity find someone of like mind?

Obviously you two found each... how on earth (or not on it) did this happen.

I thought I found one once and she was beginning to discover things and then she... decided to let others find truth and stop looking for herself.

Do you and your husband believe that females and males can search truth together, or does it solely belong to the male to do so. (of course I make the assumption the male has the final authority)

I have given up looking online as the screening process has not even yielded, "one womans among thousands" even one that is not suitable.

I do a blog that researches biblical topics and have found things to be true that I wish I had not known for it puts me at odds with others, and when I debate others the arguments tend to be emotion rather then factual, do you find this to be the case as well?

Phoenix,

If the Lord desires for you to find a like-minded individual He will provide one. Sometimes though He has us spend extended time alone in the desert for our benefit.

There are some links that can help you in finding Church in your area.

My husband and I study the Scriptures independently and then discuss it with each other. We work together to keep each other balanced. We enjoy a good Biblical discussion. We hold each other accountable but ultimately it is his responsibility as head of the family.

Often when people hear something new for the first time they do respond emotionally. That is a natural reaction, but if you can get them to really check the Scriptures they may find they are surprised at what they find that has been there all along and yet they didn't see it.

Thank you...
The truths your husband stated are correct and points of difference between me and the "churchs" in the area, the "good" churchs I have gone to studied scripture, but did not preach the same message Jesus did, instead opting for the iamsecond type gospel of accept Jesus.

By the way does your husband have a blog?

Phoenix,

There are a few true churches around but many of them are very small and hard to find. As a general rule, they would not be the large and more easily noticed churches.

My husband doesn't have a blog. I post his material when he writes a blog type lesson. But lately he has been busy with work and teaching/preaching at the churches we visit. Often his teaching there stretches over several weeks and doesn't work well for a blog. But you can click on Berean Husband in the labels and get to most of the items he has written for the blog.

Praise our Lord and Savior for these truths you have posted...
I have been raised with a love of Christ and dedicated to Him
from an early age. I believe myself saved from the age of six
when I chose to examine my actions daily and pray forgiveness
and truely strived to walk in His ways and seek His guidance.
I was raised a devout Catholic and still share a love of much
that came along with that upbringing. Unfortunately the one
main thing lacking in all these years until Easter 09 when a
simple kindhearted Godly man who just happened to be a pastor
of Calvary Chapel Church of Chester Springs came to my home the
day I awoke from a nervous breakdown due to all of the pain I
have felt in my heart for all things experienced in this sinful
world. The Transformation in my life was led by the teachings
of Pastor Chris and how truely I dont have to be 'good enough'
for God to let me into Heaven. That was always my biggest fear
- that I would not be found good enough. I was not taught of
the Personal Relationship with Jesus Christ... Through the simple
reading and explaining of the Bible with little else short of
Song and prayer... My new home church has fullfilled that which
was lacking in my heart and would have caused me to not receive
our Lords full blessing in my life... That it is not how many
good things you have done - not that we have to be perfect in the
flesh ... we will never be perfected in our flesh - it is only
thru confession that we are sinners bound by original sin and
will remain such until we realize that as Romans 3:23 says "all
have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God" but it is thru
our Faith in Christ we are given such a gift that we could never
earn or deserve... that sweet gift of salvation by our True
Father above who loves us beyond all imagination and seeks only
that we long to come home to Him. May our Lord bless you always
for proclaiming His truths!
Thank you for your posts - they are truely a blessing.

Anonymous,

I’m so glad that a pastor was able to share with you the truth of Scripture, that you will never be good enough for Heaven but the Lord died for you anyway. It isn’t a problem limited to those with a Catholic background there are many Protestants that think the same as you once did. I’m glad the Lord has blessed you with a better understanding.

Your testimony may be of much value to others who are enslaved in trying to be good enough to get to Heaven and the depression that results. I hope you get many opportunities to share it with others and point them the way to true faith and freedom.

Thanks for the kind words,

Berean Wife
